Method
  1. Boil water in a pan, add rice flour, and cooking soda.
  2. Cook on a low flame for 5 to 7 minutes.
  3. Cool and knead well. Make small balls from the prepared dough.
  4. In a deep pan make a thin sugar syrup with 2 cups of water and 1 cup sugar.
  5. Add milk, grated coconut, white sesame seeds and cardamom powder.
  6. Add modaks and cook on low heat for 5-10 minutes.
  7. Decorate the platter with fresh rose petals.
  8. Cool and serve the Ruseelay Modak.
Ingredients:
1 cup - rice flour
4 cups - water for modak
a pinch of cooking soda

For the rus:
2 cups - water
1 cup - sugar
1 cup - milk
2 tbsps - grated coconut
1 tsp - sesame seeds
1/2 tsp - cardamom powder
fresh rose petals to garnish the platter
