Sweet sour arvi leaves with chana dal

  1. Heat oil in a pressure cooker. Add mustard, cumin seeds, asafoetida and brown.
  2. Add arvi leaves, chana dal and peanuts. Add chilli, turmeric and coriander seed powder and kala masala. Add peeled, sliced radish.
  3. Add two cups of hot water and pressure cook till done (10 minutes).
  4. Remove lid, add jiggery, tamarind juice, salt and besan mixed evenly in two cups of water.
  5. Cook slowly till well blended and check seasoning.
  6. Serve with chappatis.
12 arvi leaves (clean, peel stems and chop)
1/2 cup peanuts (also soaked similarly)
1 tsp. turmeric powder
2 tsps. Coriander powder
1 cup besan
1/2 cup chana dal (soaked for 3 hours in water)
2 tsps. Chilli powder
2 tsp. kala masala
2 tbsp jaggery
1/2 cup tamarind juice
4 tbsps. oil
1/2 tsp. cumin seeds
Salt to taste
1 radish
1/2 tsp. mustard seeds
1/2 tsp. asafoetida
