Method
  1. Wash the yellow moong dal and keep aside.
  2. Take a broad steel/non-stick container and put it on the stove.
  3. Put the yellow moong dal into the container.
  4. Add 4 cups of water and cook the yellow moong dal for 10 min.
  5. Now add grated lauki to it and cook for another 5 min.
  6. Now mash nicely these cooked items with a masher.
  7. Add turmeric powder, salt and stir well.
  8. Coverand cook for 2 mins.
  9. For tempering: Heat ghee in a small pan; add mustard, cumin and asafoetida.
  10. Slit green chillies and add tempering to the dal.
  11. Serve with rice/roti.
Ingredients:
1 cup - yellow moong dal
1 cup - lauki (peeled & grated)
1 pinch - turmeric powder
1 pinch - asafoetida
1 tbsp - ghee
1/2 tsp - cumin seeds
1/2 tsp - mustard
2 - green chillies, slit
Salt to taste
