Peerkankai Pachadi

Method
  1. Peel the vegetable, cut into small pieces, cut tomatoes and green chillies.
  2. Cook with a little water and turmeric power till the vegetable become soft.
  3. Remove from the flame, cool and grind in a mixer. Keep aside.
  4. Heat oil in a pan, temper mustard, add urad dal and asafeotida.
  5. Add onion in the pan fry till half cooked.
  6. Now add the ground vegetable, salt and water.
  7. Cook for 5 minutes till it becomes semi-solid in consistency.
  8. Remove from heat and serve with idli or dosa.
  9. Tip: You can make the same pachadi with brinjal also.

250g - peerkankai (ridge gourd)
150g - tomato
100g - onion
6 - green chillies
Asafeotida, a little
1/2 tsp - turmeric powder
1 tsp - mustard
1 tsp - urad dal
2 tbsp - oil
Salt to taste
