Method
- Wash the dal and soak for 15 mins.
- Meanwhile, cut onions and tomatoes.
- Half cook the dals in a pressure cooker.
- Heat 3 tsp ghee in a pan, add onions, then tomatoes and cook.
- Once they are cooked, add garam masala, chilli powder and salt.
- Open the pressure cooker, add the cooked tomato and onion mixture and let the dal boil for 10 to 15 min on a low flame.
- Heat one tsp ghee, add mustard and methi seeds and saute and then add chopped ginger and garlic and saute.
- Then add chopped coriander leaves.
- Add this mixture to the dal just before serving and boil for 5 mins.
- Garnish with coriander leaves.
- Serve with roti, naan or paratha.
