Instant ulava chaaru ( Horse gram rasam )

Method
  1. Dry and fry horsegram till light brown. Remove.
  2. In the same pan fry jeera, dhania seeds, methi seeds and 5 red chillies till nice aroma comes.
  3. Cool and prepare till fine powder with the above ingredients.
  4. Mix above masala powder haldi, salt,tamarind paste with 800ml water and keep it aside.
  5. Heat oil(with ghee), add hing, red chilli , mustard seeds, crushed garlic and curry leaves.
  6. Fry till mustard splutters, add onion pieces, fry till soft, add tomato pieces. Cook till soft and mushy. Add prepared dal water, let it boils for 2-3mins till aroma comes.
  7. Check salt and sprinkle coriander leaves. Remove.
  8. Serve with hot plain rice.
Ingredients:
5 tbsp horsegram
1 tsp jeera
8 black pepper
Dhania seeds
A pinch of methi seeds
1 medium sized onion (sliced fine)
1 medium sized tomato (chopped fine)
1 tbsp chopped coriander leaves
2 tsp tamarind paste
Hing a pinch
Haldi a pinch
1/2 tsp mustard seeds
1 tbsp oil
1 tsp ghee
8 curry patta leaves
6 red chillies
5 peeled garlic cloves
1/4 tsp jaggery (optional)
