Chana dal vada

Method
  1. Soak the dal overnight, drain and grind it coarsely.
  2. Heat two tbsps. oil in a vessel and season with a pinch of asafoetida and cumin seeds.
  3. Pour the seasoning over the ground dal.
  4. Cook on a low fire till it is soft. Add the rest of the ingredients.
  5. Cool and form into vadas and deep fry.
  6. Serve with coconut chutney.
Ingredients:
2 cups chana dal
2 small onions (chopped finely)
1-inch piece ginger, chopped finely
A pinch of asafoetida
Oil for frying
Salt to taste
1 tsp. cumin seeds
2 green chillies, cut into very fine pieces
1&1/2 tsp. Coriander leaves
1&1/2 tsp. mango powder
1/2 cup coriander leaves (chopped finely)
