Method
  1. Wash and soak sago in water for a minimum of three hours.
  2. The water level should be half an inch above the sago.
  3. Cook moong dal so that it is soft and does not change form.
  4. See that you don`t over cook it.
  5. In a pan, heat 2 tbsp of oil and season with mustard, urad dal, bengal gram dal, cashew, curry leaves and green chillies.
  6. Now add the soaked sago and fry for a few min, till the sago becomes transparent.
  7. Add cooked moong dal, grated coconut, lemon extract and salt to it and mix well.
  8. See that the sago does not become sticky.
  9. Sago upma is ready to serve with mango pickle or curd.

Ingredients:
1 cup - sago (fine nylon)
1/3 cup - moong dal
3 - green chillies
5 - cashews
2 tbsp - coconut (Scrapped)
1/2 tsp - mustard
1/2 tsp - urad dal
1/2 tsp - Bengal gram dal
2 tsp - lemon extract
Curry leaves
Salt to taste
