Method
  1. First roast all the ingredients mentioned in the second list, except the coconut to a light brown colour.
  2. Then grind to a semi-solid consistency, adding the coconut along with required amount of water.
  3. Boil all the veggies in the tamarind water, with salt, turmeric powder and curry leaves.
  4. When the veggies are fully cooked, add the ground paste and let it boil for 4-5 mins till the raw smell disappears.
  5. Garnish with cilantro.
  6. This preparation is called kozhambu and not sambar, as it made without any dal.
  7. It can be served hot with white rice.

Ingredients:
Yellow pumpkin, a few cubes
100g - peas
2 - big carrots, cut into cubes
8-10 - flat beans, cut into similar size as other veggies
2 - drumsticks, cut into similar size as other veggies
Curry leaves, a few
Cilantro, a few sprigs
Salt to taste
1 medium lemon sized ball - tamarind, made into pulp with hot water
Turmeric powder, a pinch

For the paste:
4 - red chillies
2 tbsp - channa dal
1 tbsp - tur dal
2 tsp - sesame seeds
3 tbsp - coconut, grated
