Method
For stuffing (saran):
Mix grated coconut and jaggery and cook on slow flame till it becomes dry.
Add cardamom powder and keep aside.
For covering (ukad):
Boil water in a non-stick pan, add ghee, salt, rice flour.
Mix well. Cover the pan with a lid for 5 minutes.
Move the dough to a plate and tighten as for chappati dough.
Take some dough, shape it like a bowl.
Stuff coconut mixture in it.
Cover it and shape like modaks.
Steam all modaks for 10 minutes like idli.
Serve hot with desi ghee.
