Method
  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C).
  2. Sift flour, sugar, salt, soda, and cocoa together into an 8x8 inch ungreased cake pan.
  3. Make three depressions. Pour oil into one well, vinegar into second, and vanilla into third.
  4. Pour water over all, and stir well with fork.
  5. Bake at 350 degrees F for 35 mins, or until tooth pick inserted comes out clean.
  6. Frost with your favourite icing, cream cheese-whipped cream mix and top off with nuts, fruits, etc..

Note:
Whacky cake is a cake made without milk or eggs and is still, moist, dark and delicious! It was invented in the great depression era when ingredients were expensive and scarce.

1 1/2 cups - all purpose flour
1 cup - white sugar
4 tbsp - unsweetened cocoa powder
1 tsp - baking soda
1/2 tsp - salt
1 tsp - vanilla extract
1 tbsp - cider vinegar
6 tbsp - vegetable oil
