Chayote squash (chowchow)

Method
  1. Add oil in a pan and add cumin seeds and let it splutter.
  2. Add turmeric.
  3. Add the onions and saute till it becomes dark pink or light brown.
  4. Add the cubed vegetables, salt and cover and cook till done.
  5. Lastly add the ground dry masala and switch off the gas and cover.

Note: This vegetable is not a gravy. However, it wont be too dry.

Ingredients:
Chayote squash deskinned and cut into small cubes - 1
Onion chopped fine - 1 medium
Oil - 1 tsp
Turmeric powder - 1 tsp
Cumin seeds for tempering - 1 tsp
Salt to taste

To grind into dry masala:
Fresh grated coconut - 3 tbsps
Green chilles - 3
Cumin seeds - 1 tsp
Coriander leaves - 4 sprigs
