Lauki Dahi Korma

  1. Peel, wash and grate the bottle gourd.
  2. Mix in the gram flour, salt and half of the chopped onion.
  3. Knead well and make small balls using the dough.
  4. Deep fry these balls till they turn golden brown in colour. Keep aside.
  5. Grind together the grated coconut, garlic, cumin seeds and green chillies to a fine paste.
  6. Heat oil in a skillet and sauté the remaining chopped onions to a rich golden brown.
  7. Add the chopped tomatoes and sauté till they blend properly.
  8. Mix a little water, yoghurt and salt and drop the deep fried gourd balls.
  9. Bring the mixture to a boil and remove from heat.
  10. Garnish with chopped coriander, cinnamon powder and cardamom powder and serve hot.
500 g - Bottle gourd
50 g - Gram flour
1 - onion, finely chopped
Half coconut, grated
6 to 7 - garlic cloves
1 tsp - cumin seeds
3 to 4 - green chillies
1 - tomato, finely chopped
1 cup - yoghurt
Coriander leaves, finely chopped
1/2 tsp - cinnamon powder
A pinch of cardamom powder
Oil for frying
Salt to taste
