Masala Dhal

Method
  1. Boil the dhal and keep it aside.
  2. Heat 1 tbsp of oil in a kadai.
  3. Add the mustard seeds and allow it to splutter.
  4. Add the dry red chillies and onions.
  5. Saute the onions. Add ginger and garlic paste.
  6. Put the tomatoes in boiling water for 10 minutes.
  7. Peel off the skin and cut the tomatoes into small pieces.
  8. Add the tomatoes and boiled peas to the onions. Add the dhal and one cup of water.
  9. To this, add the chilli powder, turmeric powder, asafetida and salt. Cook for 5-10 minutes.
  10. Garnish with chopped coriander leaves.
Ingredients:
2 cups - dhal
1 cup - boiled peas
1 cup - finely sliced onion
2 - dry red chillies
2 - tomato
1 tsp - mustard seeds
1 tsp - chilli powder
1 tsp - turmeric powder
1/2 tsp - ginger paste
1/2 tsp - garlic paste
1 tsp - chopped coriander leaves
a pinch - asafetida
salt to taste
oil to fry
