Orange peel rasam

  1. In a pan, add ghee and then add orange peels.
  2. Fry for a minute. Keep it aside.
  3. Now, to the same pan add oil. Pop mustard.
  4. Then add cumin and red chilly.
  5. Cut tomato and add it to the pan.
  6. Add a tumbler of water, cooked dal and tamarind juice.
  7. Now add rasam powder and salt.
  8. Mix well. Add the fried orange peels. Boil well.
  9. Garnish with curry leaf and coriander.
  10. Serve hot with rice.

Note from Nithya: Oranges have anti-oxidants that help to prevent skin from premature aging. It reduces bad cholesterol levels. It also helps in treating indigestion, acidity and other related problems.

1/4 cup - orange peels, cut into pieces
1 - tomato
1/4 cup - cooked tur dal
1/4 cup - tamarind juice
3 tsp - rasam powder
3 - red chillies
1 tsp - cumin
1/2 tsp - mustard
2 tsp - oil
1/2 tsp - ghee
1/4 cup - coriander, finely chopped
