Method
  1. Clean rice and yellow moong dal.
  2. Keep aside for 5 min.
  3. Add 2 cups of water for rice & 1/2 cup of water for yellow moong dal and cook these two separately in 2 vessels in a pressure cooker upto 3 whistles.
  4. In a pan, add jaggery and some water & heat it till the jaggery melts.
  5. Boil milk & keep aside to cool.
  6. In the jaggery pan, add cooked rice & yellow moong dal.
  7. Reduce flame, mix ghee and stir
  8. Now add cardamom & roasted cashew nuts to it.
  9. Finally add milk a for rich taste.
  10. Hot and delicious Sakkarai Pongal is ready to eat.
Ingredients:
1 cup - rice
1/4 cup - moong dal (yellow)
1/4 cup - jaggery
1/4 cup - ghee
1/4 cup - milk
1 pinch - cardamom
roasted cashew nuts, a few
