Method
- Pressure cook green gram dal adding turmeric powder.
- Pressure cook potato along with the dal in a different separator.
- Cook chopped carrots and chopped beans separately to avoid them becoming mushy.
- Grind all the INGREDIENTS FOR GRINDING adding little water into a slightly coarse paste.
- Heat oil in a pan and add cumin seeds.
- Add sliced onions, green chillies, ginger and curry leaves.
- Saute till onions become transparent .
- Stir in the ground paste and cook for 2 minutes.
- Add chopped tomatoes and cooked carrots and beans.
- Add peeled and crumbled potatoes and stir well.
- Add the pressure cooked mushy dal and salt.
- Simmer for a few more minutes till you get a pleasant aroma.
- Garnish with roasted cashewnuts and fresh coriander leaves.

Ingredients: 1/2 cup - green gram dal
1 pinch - turmeric powder
1 big - potato
2 - carrots, chopped
String beans, a handful, chopped
1 big - tomato, chopped
1 - onion, sliced
2 - green chillies, cut into big pieces
1 inch piece - fresh ginger, finely chopped
Curry leaves, a few
1 tbsp - cashew nuts
Chopped fresh coriander leaves, for garnishing
1/4 tsp - cumin seeds
2 tbsp - cooking oil
1 1/2 tsp - salt
Ingredients for grinding:
2 tbsp - fresh coconut gratings
1/2 tsp - cumin seeds
1 tbsp - cashew nuts
3 - cardamoms
1 inch stick - cinnamon
6 - cloves
1/2 tsp - sambar powder
