Oats chivda

  1. Roast the oats and poha separately on medium flame until crisp. Use 2 tsp of oil to help roast better.
  2. Also roast the sesame seeds.
  3. Now add one tbsp. of oil in the same pan and saute the peanuts until brown.
  4. Chop the green chillies into small pieces. Set aside all the fried items.
  5. Heat the remaining oil in a pan. When it is hot, add turmeric powder and asafetida, followed by the curry leaves.
  6. Add chana dalia and cashewnuts and sauté until they turn reddish.
  7. Add the chillies and fry again for some time. Add the sesame seeds.
  8. Finally, add the oats, poha and all the fried ingredients together and mix. Add salt, coriander powder, cumin powder, sugar and toss gently.
  9. Serve hot.
1 kg. white oats
150 gms. thin poha
1/2 cup each peanuts, broken, cashewnuts and chana dalia (roasted chana dal)
1 tbsp. white sesame seeds
20 nos. green chillies
1 bunch curry leaves
3 tsp coriander powder
1 tsp each turmeric powder and asafetida (hing)
6 tsp Oil
Salt to taste
4 tbsp sugar
