Green gram kozhukattai

Method
  1. Take a pan, add 1/2 a cup of water, a teaspoon of oil and a little salt.
  2. When the water starts to boil, add the rice flour and mix it well; remove from flame and keep aside covered with a plate.
  3. Add green gram to the pan and fry for some time.
  4. Cook the fried gram in a pressure cooker up to 3 whistles.
  5. Strain the excess water from the cooked green gram and grind it lightly in a mixer.
  6. Add grated jaggery to a pan; add some water to dissolve the jaggery.
  7. Once the jaggery syrup thickens, add grated cocunut and ground green gram powder, mix well and remove from flame.
  8. Fry the cashew in the ghee and then add it in the green gram mixture.
  9. To this add cardamom powder.
  10. Take the rice flour mixture in a bowl, sprinkle some warm water and some oil.
  11. Knead to make a dough.
  12. Take some oil in a bowl; dip your fingers in the oil, take a little of the rice flour dough and shape into a cup.
  13. Place the pooran in the cup and cover from all sides to peak at the top.
  14. Repeat the same for the rest of the dough and pooran.
  15. Steam cook kozhukattai in an idli cooker up to 5 mins.
  16. Serve hot.

1/2 cup - green gram
3 tbsp - grated cocunut
3/4 Cup - grated jaggery
1 tbsp - ghee
Cashewnuts, a few
1/2 tsp - cardamom powder
1 cup - rice flour
2 tbsp - oil
