Soak rice for 15 minutes in water.
Boil it with all of the milk. Keep stirring till it cooks. (this is very important. Ensure that the rice cooks fully)
Add a little saffron
Add Kalkand and Sugar
Add a little ghee after sugar and kalkhand have dissolved.
After it thickens remove from stove and add cashew and rasins (fried in ghee)
Add cardamom
