Method
- Take a pressure cooker, temper cumin, green chilli, ginger, bay leaf, cardamom, cinnamon, pepper and garam masala.
- Add onion and roast till golden brown.
- Then add coriander and cumin powder and turmeric powder.
- Add tomato and fry for 2 mins.
- Then add rice, tur dal, salt and water.
- Close the pressure cooker and after 2-3 whistles, your khichadi will be ready.
- Garnish with coriander; serve with Gujrati kadhi.
- Instead of oil, you can also use ghee.

1 cup - basmati rice
1/4 cup - tur dal
1 - onion, cut lengthwise
1- tomato, chopped
1 - green chilli slit
1/4 tsp - turmeric powder
1 tsp - coriander and cumin powder
1/4 tsp - garam masala (optional)
1 bay leaf
2 big cardamom
1 tsp cumin
1/2 tsp black pepper, whole
1 cinnamon stick
2 tsp ginger
2 pods - garlic (optional)
Coriander leaves
1 tbsp - oil
Salt to taste
2 cups - water
50g - green peas (optional)
