Spiced rice

Method
  1. Wash and soak the rice. Drain.
  2. Heat the oil and add all the spices and onion.
  3. When the onion is soft, add the rice.
  4. Add the water and salt, stir and bring to the boil.
  5. Lower the heat, cover and simmer for 40 mins. until the rice is soft to touch.

Serving suggestions: serve with any of the saks.

Ingredients:
250 gms. basmati rice or long grain rice, washed and soaked for at least 30 mins
1 tbsp. oil
4 cloves
4 black peppercorns
1 tsp. cumin seeds
2.5 (1 inch) cinnamon stick
3 cardamom pods, opened
1 very small onion, sliced
250 ml. (1/2 pt.) water
2 tsp. salt
