Method
Wash and soak dal in water for about 5 hours.
Drain and grind to a smooth paste. Mix with flour and enough coconut milk to make a soft and pliable dough.
Put 3 cups of water in sugar and prepare a syrup of one-thread consistency.
Put in cardamoms, remove from fire and keep it warm.
Now take small pieces of dough and flatten out on a fork, then roll each piece off so that the design of the fork will be imprinted on it.
Deep fry till crisp and golden, drain and put into the syrup, when the syrup starts to mix them thoroughly.
Now separate each kalkal and place on a clean plate to turn dry and hard. You can store them in an air tight container.
Ingredients:
500 g - rice flour
75 g - urad dal
75 g - sugar
1 tsp - cardamom powder
