Simple Peas Pulao

Method
  1. Soak the rice for 30min in water. heat some Butter/Ghee/Oil in a non stick pan and saute chopped onions along with bay leaf, cloves, pepper, garlic and cumin.
  2. Once the onions get soft, add the drained rice and saute for another 3-4 min till the rice gets lightly pink.
  3. Add 2 1/2 cup water and salt , mix well and then close the lid and cook for another 5-8 min till the rice is 80% cooked.
  4. Add the peas at this point and mix it gently along with the rice.
  5. Cook for another 5 min until done.
  6. Garnish with cashews, mint and cilantro.
  7. Serve hot and it goes well with any side dish that you can think of. From simple Raita to rich dishes like Shahi Paneer

1 cup - basmati rice
1 cup - peas
1 - onion
2 to 3 - cloves garlic
1 - bay leaf
1 tsp - cumin
4 to 5 - cloves
1/2 tsp - whole pepper
toasted cashews for garnish (optional)
sprigs of cilantro and mint for garnish
salt to taste
