Method
  1. Cut torai and onion in to cubes.
  2. Wash channa dall and cook with torai till soft and done.
  3. Add ground paste, chillis, chilli powder, garam masala, and turmeric and mix well and let it cook for 1min.
  4. Put oil for tadaka, add mustard and curry leaves.
  5. Add this to curry.
  6. Serve hot with rotis and rasam rice.

Note:
Torai Names:

  1. Telugu - Beerakaya
  2. Kannada - Heerekayi
  3. Tamil - Peerukangai
Ingredients:
1/2 kg - torai (ridge gourd)
1 cup - channa dal
1 - small onion
4 - green chillis
1 tsp - garam masala
a pinch - turmeric
salt to taste

For Paste:
1/4 cup - coconut, grated
4 flaks - garlic
1 tsp - jeera
grind with little water
