Method

  1. Soak green gram dal in water for 15 minutes

  2. Wash spinach leaves throughly. No need to chop the leaves

  3. Pressure cook the dal and leaves for 10-15 minutes without water. Wait till the steam is out to open the cooker

  4. Mash the cooked dal and leaves

  5. Add oil in a pan. When hot, add mustard seeds. Wait till it splutters and then add black gram or cumin and red chillies and asafoetida

  6. When brown add it to the spinach

  7. Add required salt and serve.

Ingredients:

1 bunch Spinach
1/4 cup Green Gram Dal
2 small Red Chillies
1/2 teaspoon Mustard Seeds
1/2 teaspoon Black Gram Dal (or) 1/2 tsp Cumin Seeds
1 tablespoon Oil
Pinch of Asafoetida (hing)
Salt
