Method
  1. Put ghee in a large, flat-bottomed, microwave-safe dish.
  2. Heat at 100% power for 2 minutes. Add all the whole spices.
  3. Continue to cook at the same power level for another 1 minute 30 seconds.
  4. Add the sliced mushrooms and saut� for 2 minutes.
  5. Drop in the turmeric powder, onions, and garlic and green chillies.
  6. Continue to cook for 4 minutes.
  7. In case of combination cooking, reduce the time by a minute.
  8. Add the tomato puree, rice along with the water in which it was soaked. Add the salt.
  9. Stir and cook uncovered at 100% power for 15 minutes, till the rice has steamy holes on top.
  10. Reduce power to 60% and cook covered 5 minutes more.
  11. Stand 5 minutes before serving.
Ingredients:
2 cups - rice picked, washed and soaked in 2 cups water
2 cups - tomato puree (made with fresh tomatoes)
2 - large onions (sliced)
4 - green cardamoms (pounded)
1 - black cardamom (pounded)
1" stick - cinnamon
1 tsp - peppercorns
� tsp - turmeric powder
4 cloves - garlic (crushed)
4 - green chillies to taste (chopped)
2 tbsp - ghee
3 to 4 - cloves
salt to taste
