Matar paneer

  1. Heat oil in a wok and fry paneer cubes on a low flame to a light golden colour.
  2. Drain and keep aside.
  3. In the same wok splutter cumin, add cloves, cinnamon, cardamom and fry for a few secs.
  4. Add onion and fry to a golden brown.
  5. Add ginger garlic paste and saute for a min and add all the powders.
  6. Give the masala a good stir and blend in the tomato puree and green peas.
  7. Let the mixture bubble and then slowly stir in the yogurt and cook on a low flame for 2 mins.
  8. Finally add the paneer cubes and cook for another min to allow the masala to coat the paneer.
  9. Garnish with coriander leaves and serve hot.

1 cup - frozen green peas
1 cup - paneer cubes
5 tbsp - oil
1 tsp - cumin seeds
2 - cloves
1 - cinnamon stick
3 - cardamom
2 - onion (finely chopped)
1 tsp - ginger garlic paste
1/4 tsp - tumeric powder
1 tbsp - coriander powder
1 tbsp - chilli powder
1/2 tsp - garam masala
1/2 cup - tomato puree
4 tbsp - yogurt (whisked)
Coriander leaves, for garnishing
