Method

  1. Soak rice in water for an hour and half and drain the excess water.

  2. Let the rice dry for a while, so that there is no water content.

  3. Grind the rice in a mixie.

  4. Make sure you grind it like rava. ( I mean grind the rice to look like it is cut into 1 and 2 pieces.).

  5. Dont grind too powdery.

  6. Cut green chillies and red chillies.

  7. Take a kadai, add some oil, add mustard, urud daal, and the red chillies.

  8. Once the mustard splitters, add the green chillies and curry leaves.

  9. Add some 2 to 3 cups of water.

  10. Add salt to taste and some perungayam powder.

  11. Allow the water to boil.

  12. Once water boils, add the rice flour to it and mix thouroughly.

  13. Keep the stove in a very small fire and allow it to cook for a 10 mts. Switch off gas and allow to cool a bit.

  14. Take a steel vessel with holes, add some oil and make the vessel oily (inner portion).

  15. Make with the rice uppuma small small balls with hand .

  16. Use water to cool your hands.

  17. Keep the Uppuma balls in the hole vessel, and steam it for 15 mts. (without the wait of the cooker)

Serve with coconut chutney.!

Ingredients:

Rice flour 2 cups
1 onion finely chopped
Ginger Garlic paste 1/2 Ts
Til 1 Ts
Chana Dal soaked in water 3 Ts
Green chilly paste 1 Ts
Salt to taste
Cooking Oil
