Method
  1. Cook dal with enough water till soft.
  2. Soak tamarind in 1 cup of water and extract the juice.
  3. Heat oil in a dekchi and add mustard.
  4. When it splutters, add curry leaves and onion. Fry till onion is light brown.
  5. Add the chopped greens and 1 tsp salt. Sprinkle with little water.
  6. Cover and cook till the greens are soft.
  7. Add the tamarind juice and simmer without covering for 5 minutes.
  8. Mix sambar powder with � cup of water and add to the greens. Mash the cooked dal lightly and add.
  9. If the sambar is very thick, add some water. Taste and add salt if needed.
  10. Bring to a boil and simmer for 2-3 minutes.
Serves 4-6
Ingredients:
Red gram (tuvar) dal - 1 cup
Tamarind - size of lime
Oil - 2 tbsp
Mustard - 1 tsp
Curry leaves - few
Onion - 1 cup, chopped
Finely chopped Amarantha - 2 cup
Sambar powder - 3 tbsp
