Pressure cook the dhal and keep separately.
Grind 1 onion + 1 tomato + garlic in mixer and keep separately.
Take 4 glasses of water and extract tamarind juice.
Add sambhar powder, cut onions (2) and cut tomato (1) to it. Allow it to boil nicely. Once it starts boiling add the cooked dhal to it. Once this starts boiling add the onion, tomato, garlic paste to it.
Add salt to taste and asafoetida to it and leave it for sometime.
Heat 3 spoons of ghee in a pan, add mustard to it and allow it to splutter. Add this to the sambhar and Garnish with coriander leaves.
