Method
- Soak rice and chana dal together.
- soak urad dal separately for an hour.
- Grind them separately.
- Mix both the doughs thoroughly adding salt.
- Keep them aside for about 6 hrs.
- At the time of preparation, grind chillies, ginger and cumin seeds together and add to the dough.
- Add grated coconut to the dough.
- Grease tumblers with oil.
- Fill half of the tumblers with dough and now steam them in an idli cooker.
- When done remove idlis from tumblers.
- This goes well with green chutney.

1/2 kg - rice
100g - chana dal
100g - urad dal
3 nos - chilli
a small piece ginger
salt to taste
1 tsp - cumin seeds
1/2 - grated coconut
